ABOUT
The GBCCA (Greater Boston Chinese Cultural Association) Chinese Music Ensemble consists of two ensembles: the Ensemble (for adults) and the Youth Ensemble. The Ensemble, considered being one of the oldest Chinese Music Ensembles in New England, was established in 1984, while the Youth Ensemble was established in 2000. The two ensembles perform frequently around the New England area, and host annual concerts at places such as Paine Hall at Harvard University, Casey Theater at Regis College, Kresge Auditorium at MIT, and Cohen Auditorium at Tuft University. The Youth Ensemble has also been invited to perform at New York Carnegie Hall.
The Ensembles also collaborate with town libraries and museums to provide educational concerts to promote Chinese music and instruments to the general public. Such places include Concord Public Library, Lexington Public Library, Bedford Public Library, Malden Public Library, Nesmith Library (NH), Arlington Public Library, Peabody Essex Museum and Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. In addition, the Ensembles give frequent performances at colleges including Wellesley College and Brandeis University. For details of our performances, please check out our Events page.
